SellerSalt Trust Center
SellerSalt is an independent ecommerce research tool built on real evidence. We keep every seller's data separate and private, and we follow every marketplace's rules to the letter.
We never invent a number. When we genuinely can't observe a metric, we label it Unavailable instead of filling it in with a plausible-looking guess. See the full list of integrations we genuinely connect to and the marketplaces we support, including the platforms where we offer deep store connections and market research.
Zero-Fabrication Policy
When a metric cannot be legitimately observed (such as private competitor store revenue or unlicensed search volumes), SellerSalt marks it explicitly as UNAVAILABLE. We never substitute synthetic numbers or plausible-looking guesses.
Multi-Source Separation
We strictly separate public catalog research, authorized marketplace connections, merchant store data, and historical market memory. Each source operates under its own explicit data governance rules.
Strict Tenant Isolation
Connected store credentials, synced orders, and proprietary listing drafts are hard-scoped to the authorizing organization. OAuth tokens are encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM and deleted immediately upon disconnection.
Signal Classification Framework
Every metric presented across SellerSalt intelligence surfaces is classified under one of five explicit categories:
Directly captured from live public marketplace listings or verified store syncs (e.g. Price, Review Count, Star Rating, Title, Category).
Deterministically computed from verified observations without synthetic modeling (e.g. Median Price P50, Attribute Prevalence %, Price Spread).
Statistical algorithmic models with explicit confidence ratings (e.g. Opportunity Score 3.0, Launch Readiness Index, Market Momentum).
Calculated exclusively from user-entered landed manufacturing costs, packaging quotes, and target advertising CAC in the workspace.
Private or unlicensed signals (such as competitor store revenue or hidden search volume) are explicitly labeled unavailable with transparent rationale.
Marketplace Data Boundaries & Store Privacy
How SellerSalt interacts with official platform networks and public web catalogs.
• Strict Policy Compliance: If an official marketplace service is rate-limited or requires merchant credentials, SellerSalt never attempts evasive workarounds. Public catalog research is strictly conducted within lawful observation guidelines.
• No Private Dashboard Ingestion: Accessing authenticated seller portals (e.g. Amazon Seller Central, Etsy Shop Manager) is strictly hard-gated and blocked across all crawlers.
• Least-Privilege Scopes: Store connections request only necessary read/write permissions (e.g., Etsy listings_w listings_r shops_r transactions_r), documented in Etsy's official authentication documentation.
• Required Trademark Notices: We show the required trademark notices on every research report and public page, and we never claim a partnership we don't actually have.
• Official eBay APIs Only: eBay product, category, and keyword research runs on eBay's own Buy Browse API, and eBay listing management runs on eBay's Sell Inventory API — never unauthorized scraping or browser automation against eBay's site.
• Core Supported Marketplaces: Etsy, eBay, WooCommerce, and Shopify are the marketplaces where we offer deep catalog research and verified store connections. See the current capability status of each.
Bounded Data Retention
Public research snapshots are automatically pruned based on customer subscription plan lookback limits (maximum 30 days on Agency tier). Historical observation memory stores anonymized statistical aggregates with SHA-256 fingerprints.
Security & SSRF Protections
All outbound network requests are validated against domain allowlists and protected against Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF). Internal IP ranges (127.0.0.1, 10.0.0.0/8, 169.254.169.254) are unconditionally blocked.
